Recent news of four new grants from the National Lottery Community Fund for community groups across the constituency is great news for the North-East.
Macduff Bowling Club, Deskford & District Community Association, Stella’s Voice and Portgordon Village Hall have all made successful funding applications, with a total of £56,607 being distributed across these four groups.
Macduff Bowling Club is to receive a grant of £9,807 to purchase solar panels and insulation to cut running costs and reduce carbon emissions; Deskford & District Community Association have been allocated a £19,800 grant to install a disabled toilet facility and update the ladies toilets in their large community hall; Stella’s Voice is to receive a £20,000 grant to cover a one year project which will pay for transport costs to collect donations and deliver food, pre-loved white goods, furniture, and clothing to people in need from a base in Peterhead; and last but not least, Portgordon Village Hall has received a £7,000 grant to help them carry out essential structural work on the village hall.
The National Lottery Community Fund distributes funding on behalf of National Lottery players who raise more than £30 million each week for good causes throughout the UK. Last year over half a billion pounds of life-changing funding was awarded, going to grassroots groups and charities across the UK that are bringing to life amazing ideas that matter to their communities.
I’m delighted to hear that these four community groups who contribute so much locally will receive funds from the National Lottery to expand on the great work they are already doing across the constituency. Its grass roots organisations like these that are the very life blood of our communities; I look forward to seeing the fruits of their new funding and the benefits this will bring to the towns and villages where they are based.
