I was delighted to nominate local businesswoman and founder of Summerhouse Drinks, Claire Rennie for an MPHERoes Award last week in Parliament.
Claire Rennie is the Founder and Head of Fizz at Summerhouse Drinks based in Rosehearty making real lemonades and craft sodas using natural ingredients on the Rennie family farm.
The MPHERoes annual event in Parliament links MPs with women in business in their constituency from sectors and industries as diverse as digital tech, food and drink, and health and wellbeing. Supported by the Women & Enterprise All-Party Parliamentary Group and the Inclusive Entrepreneurship APPG, this Savvitas programme in partnership with NatWest aims to create a sustainable peer group to champion women business owners, building a talent pool to inspire, generate opportunity, grow and thrive.
I was so pleased to nominate Claire for this award celebrating female role models in business for her work in not only founding the successful and renowned Summerhouse Drinks but in her continued innovation and dynamism and, importantly, agility in the face of a challenging economic environment since she started out back in 2014.
Summerhouse Drinks showcases the best of local, all-natural flavours in their craft sodas and handmade selection – their team of ‘fizzicists’ as they call them have created a taste of the North-east with drinks such as Scottish Raspberry Lemonade using Aberdeenshire grown raspberries.
I’m proud of the food and drink businesses across the constituency who showcase our wonderful produce locally and globally – Summerhouse is at the helm with their authentic quality product, commitment to sustainability and celebration of local flavours. I wish Claire and her team every success as they continue to stamp their individuality and their ambition on the Scottish soft drinks industry.
