I’m keen to make constituents aware that the Scottish Gas’ Warm House Discount Scheme is now open for applications.
The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £150 payment towards electricity bills, paid directly by energy suppliers to their customers. The payment is targeted to those on low incomes including those who receive means tested benefits and is separate from the Energy Bill Support Scheme.
Customers must apply for the payments through their electricity suppliers before 31st March 2027, with the exception of individuals who receive the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit who will automatically receive the Warm Home Discount from their suppliers.
Additional support this Winter is also being provided to both Scottish Gas customers and customers of other energy suppliers through the independent Scottish Gas Energy Trust. Through the Trust, constituents can apply for funds of up to £1,700 via the Individual and Families Fund or the Energy Support Fund which is solely funded by Scottish Gas.
I want to ensure that eligible constituents don’t miss out on this valuable payment as we head into the Autumn and Winter seasons. The colder temperatures in the North-east can be hard on households not to mention the continual hikes in energy prices so every bit counts towards ensuring people can keep their homes warm in the coming months.
