You may have heard my question to Wes Streeting recently in parliament, where I highlighted to him the eye watering £3.4 million that’s been accrued in hospital parking charges in his constituency. Meanwhile in Scotland, staff, patients, families, and visitors can all park for free at our hospitals. He didn’t seem to like my question as he refused to answer it, then spouted some blatant untruths on hospital waiting times in Scotland.
This is my letter to Streeting highlighting that this was an unacceptable response. Because, this is an unacceptable pattern with this Labour Government – from Sewage Steve, the Rt Hon former environment secretary who had his knuckles rapped by the UK Stats Authority for potentially misleading comments on Scottish water quality, to the Health Secretary’s dubious commentary on our waiting lists, this economy with the truth is not befitting those in high public office. The UK Government Must Do Better.
