I was pleased to accept an invitation to visit Maynes Coaches in Buckie this week to learn more about the business and some of the challenges facing the coaching industry, and to meet with Operations Director, Kevin Mayne, whose family have run this coaching business since the 1940s.
Discussions focused on difficulties facing the sector post pandemic and as a result of the cost of living and energy crises, as well as sustainability and green transport, and the coaching industry’s important contribution to education, business and the growing tourism sector in the constituency.
I really enjoyed the tour of his depot in Buckie and hearing more about the family business and plans for future development. Coaching is so integral to the growth of our tourism sector here in the North-east as well as supporting schools, colleges, local groups and community organisations while Maynes ‘take care of the journey’. I wish them every continued success.
